Description
Stainless closing latch with a welded pivot structure
The latch combines a curved plate, a pivoting link and a cylindrical hinge area. Its function depends on the pivot axis and the closing edge lining up correctly after welding, so the assembly should be dimensioned around the pivot rather than around the outer silhouette.
Geometry to lock down on the drawing
- Define the pivot-bore diameter and the position of the closing edge from that axis.
- Specify the plate thickness and any stop surfaces that limit travel.
- Call out weld locations so they do not interfere with the moving joint.
Stainless welding can pull thin plate out of position. A fixture, controlled weld sequence and final reaming or machining of the pivot area can keep the latch movement consistent.
Welding and final fit
For quotation: Send the latch assembly drawing, stainless grade, pivot pin information and required finish. If the part must operate through a defined angle, include that travel in the drawing.
