Description
Thin carbon-steel flange with three mounting ears
This flange is a light ring rather than a heavy pipe flange. Three mounting ears extend from the circular body, so the key geometry is the relationship between the central opening, ring thickness and the three hole locations.
Geometry to lock down on the drawing
- Hold the center opening and outside ring profile concentric.
- Locate all three mounting holes from the center of the flange.
- Define flatness across the thin body if it seals or clamps against another surface.
Keeping a thin flange flat
Thin sections can move after rough machining or heat treatment. A balanced machining sequence and sensible clamping help keep the part flat without marking the mounting face.
