We've been working with Jinlanmeng, a management training organization, to look at how our workshop is run. Between daily orders and production work, it's easy to overlook the smaller habits that affect the shop floor.
One area we've focused on is 5S housekeeping. Machines, tools and part containers should have clear places, with components marked so they don't get mixed up. It's not glamorous work, but it makes daily handovers easier.
The photos show our workshop during this period. Real improvement comes from keeping up these habits after the training sessions are over.
