Description
Forged Square Shaft
A shaft with a square section for the mating mechanical interface. This square shaft is produced to the specified part drawing. The manufacturing specification includes forging and precision machining.
Technical Overview
- Part: Square Shaft
- Processing: Precision Machined, Forged
Square Shaft Design and Assembly
- Working diameters: define the stepped sections, overall length and the intended mating fits.
- End features: show any threads, keyways, splines or attachment details included in the actual design.
- Axial location: identify shoulders, grooves and reference faces used to position the shaft in the assembly.
Material and Manufacturing Requirements
The material grade is to be defined with the order drawing. Identify the intended equipment and service environment so that the material requirement can be agreed before the manufacturing specification is finalized.
Forging is included in the specification. Identify the finished-part geometry and distinguish surfaces requiring later machining from those to be accepted in the forged condition.
Precision machining is specified for this component. Identify the critical dimensions, their reference datums and the surfaces requiring a defined finish so the quotation reflects the functional requirements of the actual part.
Quotation Information
Specify across-flat dimensions, corner geometry, overall length and any transitions to round or threaded sections. Include the drawing revision, required quantity and any sample or inspection documentation needed for approval.
